UPDATE 1/15/11: Yet another option for the Juke has been developed by the pro’s at Rack Attack! Check out this 2011 Nissan Juke with the ProRack Whispbar system…
This setup utilized the Whispbar S3 along with Fitting Kit 323. Note that this is a custom and permanant option! Take a look below at the very low profile mounting blocks. These are the only parts that are permanently affixed to the vehicle.
Finally, we added the Yakima Fat Cat 6 ski/snowboard rack. Note that the rack is ‘jacked up’ on one side…this is so snowboard bindings on the upside-down boards don’t hit the roof. It is not always necessary to lift the rack like this, but the customer wanted to start this way just to be safe. Flattening out the rack is simply adjusting two screws on each carrier.
It has finally arrived! For those of you who have been waiting for the the Nissan Juke to come stateside, it is here and we had the opportunity to rack it. The customer needed a rack system to get his snowboards to the mountain and we had solutions.
Either a simple-to-install clip fit with Thule’s 480 towers (for a more stylish option upgrade to Thule’s Aero bars), 50″ Load Bars, Fit Kit 1619 and a 4-pack of locks or if you are lucky enough to live close to one of our retail stores we can custom install a rack system. UPDATE 1/27/11: Yakima now has a Q tower fit. Several trunk rack options exists now as well. And Curt has a class I 1.25″ hitch! Give us a call or check out our online fit guides at www.rackattack.com for more information.
Our customer opted for the custom installation, making removal and installation of the rack a snap! Add Yakima’s Fat Cat 4 or 6 ski and snowboard carrier, your friends, one weekend, a mountain and you have a recipe everybody wants!!
Summary: This turbo all wheel drive crossover is the perfect vehicle to get you to the slopes and we have a couple of great options for racks.
Pro’s: The custom install gives you easy install and removal of the base rack system.
Con’s: Notice the roof sloping up? You have to take this into consideration for longer boats and cargo boxes that typically work best with larger bar spreads.

How is the Juke install done? I do not see any attachment system? is this screwed in through the roof?
Great question Tim! Yes this installation is a custom install, in which the Yakima Control Tower grabs onto a Landing Pad that is permanently attached to the roof. To achieve this, our professional installers talk with the rack user to determine where the rack system would be located on the roof and then installed flare-nut fasteners.
Feel free to give us a call to discuss in greater detail if you are thinking of racking out your car, 503.226.7300.

The customer opted for the custom install, but from your post, you are saying that we can use a 480 Traverse Kit with Fitkit 1619 with either 50″ load bar or what size aero bar? And this setup will work on the Juke?
I love the look of custom but not sure out how permanent I want it…
Why has Thule not listed this on their fit guide yet?
cheers,
Jason
Hmmm…strange that its not on Thule’s guide yet. Sometimes we here at Rack Attack get insider information about upcoming fits before Thule spills the details to the public. The kit for the Juke is available for us to order if you are interested in the Traverse style racks.
As for the aero bars, you’ll need to go with the 480R Rapid Traverse foot pack and RB47 crossbars.
Thanks,
Scott
Does this installation and/or the recommended 480 towers still allow for the sunroof to open and tilt?
We’re not sure yet…although Thule announced the fit kit for the Juke, it is still not available. We’ll update the post once they ship.
When using Thule racks, the crossbars are usually high enough to clear the sunroof. I’d be surprised if it didn’t clear; we’ll let you know when we get a chance to try.
The Thule rack works just fine with the sunroof. I have one on mine and have no problems. What size fairing would you recommend for a Juke with the 480traverse and LB50 bars?
The 871xt is the recommended fairing: http://www.rackattack.com/product-pages/thule-871xt-fairing.asp
Thanks for the tip about the sunroof!
The sunroof also works on the custom setup I had the rack attack team install on my juke…
because of the curved roof, getting 4 snowboards on the fat cat 6 is a little tight, but it can be done…. bigger binding face.
It as worth the drive to Portland from Seattle. My setup keeps getting back and forth to Mt Baker every weekend.
Does the store in Boston do these installs on the Nissan Juke too?
They can…please call 508.879.1444
